We are delighted to present the first experimental versions of the chainweb-stream server and client, a new system that enables persistent streaming of transactions and their confirmation status.

When interacting with smart contracts on Chainweb, one will often see module names or module member expressions prefixed with static names such as free, or util, or kaddex (e.g. free.radio02.direct-to-send). We refer to these static prefixes as “namespaces”, and they form an integral part of the Kadena ecosystem that allows developers and users to write contract and keyset definitions within a private namespace that they govern themselves.

Since Kadena’s mainnet launch in January 2020, our team and community have grown tremendously. Our ecosystem experienced exponential growth with several hundred projects now building on the Kadena blockchain. Kadena’s massive growth could only be accomplished with the help of our amazing community, ecosystem of partners, builders, and ambassadors! Thank you everyone for accompanying us through this journey!

Kadena is releasing a new version of Chainweb Node, version 2.17 which will have a service date in effect as of 2022–12–01T00:00:00Z. In addition to various bug fixes and performance optimizations, this release will change the current Pact and Chainweb Node experience for some dApp developers and users. In this article, we will explain the UX/DX-relevant changes in depth, and provide a migration path.

In March 2017, Kadena entered my radar when raising its seed round. Despite initial skepticism, I remarked to my partners at Asimov Ventures how impressed I was with Kadena’s software — it seemed to be addressing serious problems with Ethereum. When I subsequently met Kadena’s founders, Will Martino and Stuart Popejoy, I was blown away here were two brilliant programmers solving their own problems.
