To end 2022 with a bang, we are excited to announce our last feature upgrade of the year! The Marmalade team at Kadena has worked hard and is now rolling out an upgrade to the Marmalade contract with a new feature ttoken protocol. This new token protocol will increase safety for our developers during the lazy minting process! Let’s dive right in.

To say that 2022 has been a wild roller coaster ride for the Web3 and crypto industry as a whole is an understatement. Kadena has been pushing forward and growing beyond our expectations from hiring to engineering to business development. With our actively expanding team, Kadena strives to deliver a robust foundation of resources, content, and environment to support our expanding ecosystem of builders, projects, and users.

Since Kadena’s mainnet launch in January 2020, our team and community have grown tremendously. Our ecosystem experienced exponential growth with several hundred projects now building on the Kadena blockchain. Kadena’s massive growth could only be accomplished with the help of our amazing community, ecosystem of partners, builders, and ambassadors! Thank you everyone for accompanying us through this journey!

Kadena is currently the only blockchain on a proof-of-work model that can expand to handle global transaction volumes. This makes it scalable, a difficult feat to accomplish. This forms the building blocks of Kadena’s ecosystem, verifying transactions in a more resilient manner that gives developers room to flex up capacity when their projects take off.

Kadena is releasing a new version of Chainweb Node, version 2.17 which will have a service date in effect as of 2022–12–01T00:00:00Z. In addition to various bug fixes and performance optimizations, this release will change the current Pact and Chainweb Node experience for some dApp developers and users. In this article, we will explain the UX/DX-relevant changes in depth, and provide a migration path.

We have been steadily growing an all-star team as our team needed to be up to par with our all-star core Haskellers at Kadena. We currently have a team of 7 developers working on dev experience, which will grow to 12 by the end of the year. Growing this team this fast already points out the importance of the developer experience for Kadena. There is a lot of great stuff coming to our ecosystem, so fasten your seatbelt because next year will be like “The Fast and the Furious — K-orbit” 🚀!!

The Kadena.js team has created a library that allows Javascript/Typescript users to easily interact with the Kadena Blockchain. Creating contracts is explicitly left out of the library as it is much morecomplicated to transpile Javascript to Pact.
